Overview:
Iris Romero (she/her/ella) MD, MS, is a Professor of Obstetrics and Gynecology and the Dean for Diversity and Inclusion for the Biological Sciences Division at the University of Chicago. As a physician-scientist, Dr. Romero is driven by the hope that her scholarship will make a meaningful difference for patients.
As a gynecologist, she has witnessed the disproportionate impact of certain diseases in minority groups. As a result of these professional and personal experiences she has dedicated her career to social justice in medicine and science. A guiding principle of her work is that advances in science should benefit all patients and new treatments should be accessible to everyone regardless of social determinates of health.
