Menopause is a life stage that half of the world’s population goes through. During the menopause transition individuals can experience physical, cognitive, and psychological symptoms that last for multiple years. One of these symptoms is ‘brain fog’, which describes problems with memory, concentration or focus. For people who have a higher risk of dementia (e.g., because of family history), menopause symptoms can be even more challenging, and they may need extra support.

Very little is known about the specific experiences of people who have a higher dementia risk during the menopause transition, or what kinds of supports or information they need.

The perimenopausal and menopausal individuals dementia risk intervention (PERI-MIND) project aims to learn more about the experiences of people going through menopause who are at higher risk of dementia. Our goal is to create a simple, personalized program to help individuals navigate this life change.

By focusing on people who are at higher risk for dementia, this project aims to improve individuals’ health and well-being during and after menopause. Your participation and support in this research can make a big difference in how we care for people during this important time in their lives.

Thank you for contributing to this important work.
