Research Team
Arin Everett, MPH Research Assistant Arin is a research assistant in Dr. Rana’s lab at the University of Chicago. She is currently working on a variety of projects focusing on preeclampsia research such as FitRAP, STAMPP-HTN (RPM), and the Reference Range study. Arin plays key role in patient facing aspects of research such as consenting for active studies and the collecting and processing patient samples. She also handles regulatory tasks, such as data collection/entry, and eTMF managing. Arin also serves as the study coordinator from start up to close out on the Reference Range Study.
Marly Azzi, MD
Research Assistant
Marly is a research assistant in Dr. Rana’s lab at the University of Chicago. She is working with Dr. Rana on several projects related to postpartum preeclampsia and blood biomarkers during pregnancy. She is also studying the impact of the STAMP-HTN program in the postpartum period as well as the role of the biomarkers in predicting the outcomes of pregnancy.
Adrian Eddy, PhD
Postdoctoral Scholar
Adrian is a postdoctoral scholar that performs bench research for Dr. Rana at the University of Chicago. Given that there is no current approved treatment for preeclampsia, her research is primarily focused on examining the efficacy of potential therapies using human cells and placental tissue. Adrian’s research has resulted in two publications evaluating the ability of luteolin to target pathways involved in preeclampsia
Colleen Duncan, RN-BSN, M.Ed
Clinical Research Nurse
Colleen is a Clinical Research Nurse that works directly with Dr. Rana at the University of Chicago focusing primarily on projects involving hypertensive issues during pregnancy and postpartum. She is also affiliated with UCM focusing on the STAMPP-HTN program for postpartum HTN patient education, and PRAECIS, a biomarkers study out of Cedars-Sinai in Los Angeles, CA. Colleen was instrumental in establishing a postpartum telehealth program at UCM and working with the research team on an upcoming biomarkers study: TIME-PE.
First Year MFM Fellow
Dr. Burns attended medical school at UC San Diego School of Medicine before completing residency at the University of Michigan where he was the Education Chief and recipient of numerous teaching awards. He was an assistant clinical professor for one year at the University of Michigan before enrolling in the University of Chicago Maternal-Fetal Medicine fellowship. Dr. Burns’ research interests involve the study of angiogenic biomarkers in the prediction of preeclampsia, as well as the impacts of RSV vaccination on placental physiology.
Second Year MFM Fellow
Dr. Bisson attended medical school and completed her Obstetrics and Gynecology residency at the University of Oklahoma. During her residency she held numerous leadership positions, including administrative chief resident and ACOG District VII Section Chair. Her research interests include patient care in the postpartum period, hypertensive disorders of pregnancy, and improving healthcare equity. Dr. Bisson is studying the impact of a standardized blood pressure monitoring system in patient adherence and cardiovascular outcomes.
Second Year MFM Fellow
Dr. Morgan attended medical school at New York University Grossman School of Medicine. She then completed her residency in Obstetrics and Gynecology at the University of Illinois at Chicago, where she served as administrative chief resident and was awarded the Resident Research Award for her project on patient perceptions and understanding of preimplantation genetic testing. Her research interests include hypertensive disorders of pregnancy, patient satisfaction and patient-centered perception research, and immune tolerance in pregnancy. Currently she is studying biomarker utilization in the diagnosis of preeclampsia, and patient-centered outcomes with the implementation of a high-risk obstetric nurse navigator, biomarker utilization in the diagnosis of preeclampsia, and patient centered outcomes with the implementation of a high-risk obstetric nurse navigator.
Fourth Year Resident
Tinyan Dada
UChicago undergraduate student
Tinyan is a third-year undergraduate student at the University of Chicago pursuing a major in Comparative Human Development and a minor in Biology, on the pre-med track. She joined the Rana Laboratory in June 2019 as a Research Assistant on both clinical and basic research studies.
