The Section of Urogynecology and Reconstructive Pelvic Surgery at UChicago Medicine provides comprehensive care for pelvic floor disorders, including pelvic organ prolapse, urinary incontinence, overactive bladder, bladder dysfunction, genitourinary fistulas, and complications from prior pelvic surgery.
Our specialists combine advanced surgical expertise with evidence-based, individualized care to help patients regain function, confidence, and quality of life. Patients experiencing bothersome pelvic floor symptoms, including pelvic organ prolapse, urinary incontinence, overactive bladder, or complications from previous pelvic surgery, may benefit from evaluation by our team.
While many patients improve with nonsurgical treatments such as pelvic floor physical therapy, medications, or pessaries, others with persistent symptoms, more advanced prolapse or complex pelvic floor disorders may be candidates for minimally invasive or reconstructive surgery. Comprehensive Nonsurgical Treatment
Not every pelvic floor disorder requires surgery. Our specialists offer a comprehensive range of nonsurgical therapies, including:

Leaders in Urogynecology Education
UChicago Medicine is committed to training the next generation of urogynecologists through comprehensive resident and fellowship education. Faculty teach advanced pelvic anatomy, minimally invasive and robotic reconstructive surgery, pelvic floor imaging, and evidence-based management of complex pelvic floor disorders.
In addition to educating residents and fellows, section faculty develop surgical simulation curricula, lecture at national and international meetings, contribute to specialty textbooks and clinical guidelines, serve as examiners for the American Board of Obstetrics and Gynecology (ABOG), and hold leadership positions within national organizations including the American Urogynecologic Society (AUGS) and the NIH PFDN.

Multidisciplinary Pelvic Health Care
Complex pelvic floor disorders often require expertise from multiple specialties. Our surgeons collaborate closely with colleagues in colorectal surgery, urology, gastroenterology, pelvic floor physical therapy, radiology, and sexual medicine to develop comprehensive treatment plans for each patient.
This multidisciplinary approach is especially valuable for patients with recurrent prolapse, genitourinary fistulas, bowel dysfunction, neurologic conditions, and complications following previous pelvic surgery.

Kimberly Kenton, MD, MS
Dr. Kimberly Kenton is Chief of Urogynecology and Reconstructive Pelvic Surgery and Vice Chair for Research in the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology at UChicago Medicine. She is one of the nation's leading urogynecologists, an internationally recognized pelvic floor surgeon, and an NIH-funded physician-scientist whose work has helped define modern Female Pelvic Medicine and Reconstructive Surgery.
Her clinical expertise includes pelvic organ prolapse, urinary incontinence, overactive bladder, robotic and minimally invasive pelvic reconstructive surgery, and complex pelvic floor disorders. She has led and participated in numerous landmark multicenter clinical trials through the NIH PFDN, helping establish the evidence that guides contemporary treatment of pelvic floor disorders.
A nationally respected educator and leader, Dr. Kenton played a foundational role in establishing Female Pelvic Medicine and Reconstructive Surgery as a board-certified medical subspecialty. She contributed to the development of national fellowship accreditation standards, educational requirements, and board certification for the specialty, helping shape the training of future urogynecologists across the United States.
Her scholarly contributions include hundreds of peer-reviewed publications, book chapters, and invited reviews focused on pelvic floor disorders, patient-reported outcomes, urinary incontinence, pelvic organ prolapse, surgical innovation, and postoperative recovery. She has authored influential international guidelines, served on editorial boards for leading urogynecology journals, and held leadership positions within major professional organizations, including AUGS and the International Urogynecological Association (IUGA). Her research continues to advance patient-centered care through the development of outcome measures, quality improvement initiatives, and innovative approaches to pelvic floor reconstruction.
Sarah Collins, MD
Dr. Sarah Collins is a fellowship-trained urogynecologist and reconstructive pelvic surgeon specializing in pelvic organ prolapse, urinary incontinence, genitourinary fistulas, and minimally invasive pelvic reconstruction. She has particular expertise in robotic reconstructive surgery, complex pelvic floor disorders, and congenital pelvic anomalies.
As a surgeon-scientist, Dr. Collins has developed a nationally recognized research program focused on robotic sacrocolpopexy, vaginal biomechanics, surgical outcomes, pelvic floor imaging, and patient decision-making. Her work seeks to improve both the technical aspects of reconstructive surgery and the patient experience before, during, and after treatment.
Dr. Collins has authored numerous peer-reviewed publications and book chapters and serves in national and international leadership roles with AUGS, IUGA, and the NIH PFDN. She chairs international terminology and standardization initiatives, contributes to clinical practice guidelines, serves as Assistant Editor of Urogynecology, and continues to advance evidence-based care through research, education, and clinical innovation.
Juraj Letko, MD
Dr. Juraj Letko is a fellowship-trained urogynecologist and reconstructive pelvic surgeon with expertise in robotic, laparoscopic, and vaginal approaches to pelvic floor reconstruction. His clinical practice includes robotic sacrocolpopexy, uterine-preserving prolapse surgery, fistula repair, vNOTES procedures, and complex revision surgery for recurrent pelvic floor disorders. He serves as Associate Program Director for the Urogynecology and Reconstructive Pelvic Surgery Fellowship and Co-Director of the UChicago Medicine Center for Pelvic Health.
Dr. Letko's academic interests center on improving surgical outcomes through innovation in pelvic floor imaging, pelvic ultrasound, urodynamics, and minimally invasive surgical techniques. He has published extensively on pelvic floor reconstruction, overactive bladder, and advanced diagnostic imaging, serves on the NIH PFDN Steering Committee and Publication Committee, and contributes to national initiatives through AUGS, IUGA, and the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists (ACOG).
A dedicated educator and surgical innovator, Dr. Letko directs regional anatomy, simulation, and fellowship training programs and regularly teaches advanced reconstructive techniques to physicians nationally and internationally. His work combines technical innovation, evidence-based surgical care, and educational leadership to advance the treatment of women with complex pelvic floor disorders.
Christina Lewicky-Gaupp, MD
Dr. Christina Lewicky-Gaupp is a fellowship-trained urogynecologist and reconstructive pelvic surgeon specializing in pelvic organ prolapse, urinary incontinence, obstetric pelvic floor injuries, rectovaginal fistulas, and complex pelvic floor disorders. She has particular expertise in maternal birth trauma, postpartum pelvic floor recovery, and minimally invasive reconstructive surgery. She is Professor of Obstetrics and Gynecology at the University of Chicago and Fellowship Director for the Urogynecology and Reconstructive Pelvic Surgery Fellowship. She also founded and directs the PEAPOD (Peripartum Evaluation and Assessment of the Pelvic Floor around the Time of Delivery) Maternal Recovery Clinic, which provides specialized care for women recovering from childbirth-related pelvic floor injuries.
Dr. Lewicky-Gaupp's research focuses on maternal recovery after childbirth, obstetric pelvic floor injuries, and improving outcomes for women with pelvic floor disorders. She has led investigator-initiated clinical studies, served as an investigator on NIH-supported multicenter research through the PFDN, and authored more than 90 peer-reviewed publications, book chapters, and textbooks that have advanced the care of women with postpartum pelvic floor disorders.
An accomplished educator and national leader, Dr. Lewicky-Gaupp has developed innovative surgical simulation curricula, directed residency and fellowship education programs, and serves as a national examiner and subject matter expert for ABOG. She has held leadership positions within AUGS, chairs the Communications Committee for the NIH PFDN, and is an internationally recognized speaker on maternal birth trauma and pelvic floor reconstruction.
Margaret Mueller, MD, MBOE
Dr. Margaret Mueller is a fellowship-trained, board-certified urogynecologist and reconstructive pelvic surgeon specializing in pelvic organ prolapse, urinary incontinence, overactive bladder, lower urinary tract injury, and complex pelvic floor disorders. She has particular expertise in minimally invasive and robotic pelvic reconstruction, sacrocolpopexy, and the care of patients with congenital genitourinary anomalies. She is an Associate Professor of Obstetrics and Gynecology at the University of Chicago and serves as Quality Chief for Gynecologic Surgery and Co-Director of the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology’s Morbidity and Mortality program.
Dr. Mueller’s research focuses on recovery after urogynecologic surgery, postoperative activity recommendations, patient-reported outcomes, the urinary microbiome, sacral neuromodulation, and surgical quality. She has served as an investigator in NIH-supported multicenter studies through the PFDN and national research consortia focused on bladder health and lower urinary tract symptoms. She has authored or coauthored more than 90 peer-reviewed publications, and her work has helped advance more evidence-based, patient-centered approaches to postoperative recovery and pelvic floor care.
An experienced educator and national leader, Dr. Mueller has led fellowship education and now teaches UChicago Medicine residents and fellows in prolapse, urinary incontinence, lower urinary tract physiology and injury, and reconstructive surgery. She has served on the AUGS Board of Directors, chaired national writing groups on postoperative activity and credentialing for sacrocolpopexy, serves as an examiner for ABOG, and is an Associate Editor of Neurourology and Urodynamics. She also holds a Master of Business in Operational Excellence and Lean Six Sigma Black Belt certification, supporting her work in surgical quality, safety, and healthcare delivery.
Brittany Roberts, MD
Dr. Brittany Roberts is a fellowship-trained urogynecologist and reconstructive pelvic surgeon who provides comprehensive medical and surgical care for pelvic organ prolapse, urinary incontinence, bladder dysfunction, genitourinary fistulas, and sexual health concerns. She specializes in minimally invasive and robotic reconstructive surgery while emphasizing individualized, patient-centered care.
Her research focuses on optimizing recovery after urogynecologic surgery through patient-reported outcomes, postoperative follow-up strategies, digital health technologies, and health policy. She has published systematic reviews, clinical research, and quality improvement studies evaluating recovery after surgery, postoperative communication, and methods for improving the patient experience throughout the surgical journey.
Dr. Roberts collaborates on national research initiatives and regularly presents her work at meetings of AUGS, the Society of Gynecologic Surgeons (SGS), and the International Continence Society (ICS). Her research helps advance evidence-based postoperative care, patient engagement, and quality measurement in urogynecology.
