Our Section of Gynecology and Minimally Invasive Surgery Physician
The Section of Gynecology and Minimally Invasive Surgery, under the leadership of Dr. Shari Snow , provides comprehensive care to women with complex gynecologic conditions. Our physicians treat women through all stages of life for a wide spectrum of gynecologic conditions including fibroids, endometriosis, menopause, vulvar disorders, osteoporosis, hereditary cancer risk, as well as contraception and routine well woman care.
Our minimally invasive gynecologic surgeons treat fibroids and endometriosis with laparoscopy and hysteroscopy, utilizing the latest technologies. Innovative approaches, including the daVinci robotic system, Acessa radiofrequency ablation, and the hysteroscopic resectoscope offer patients alternatives to traditional surgery with less pain, scarring and time to recovery. Our surgical team has decades of experience in pioneering these new technologies. Dr. Laura Douglass and Dr. Sandra Laveaux have completed fellowship training in complex gynecologic surgeries.
Our team of gynecologists help guide patients through the menopausal transition with our Menopause Center, led by Dr Monica Christmas. We offer a comprehensive approach to the treatment of menopausal symptoms, which includes both hormonal and non-hormonal options. Our gynecologists are Certified Menopause Practitioners with the North American Menopause Society and our internist, Dr. Tough DeSapri, has completed a Fellowship in in Midlife Women’s Health and Osteoporosis. Dr. Christmas also conducts groundbreaking research on socioeconomic and racial disparities in menopausal symptoms and treatment.
Dr. Christy Beyer has a clinical interest and advanced training in diseases of the vulva, which often lead to significant discomfort, and difficulties with sexual intercourse. Dr Beyer uses an evidence-based approach to offer new and effective treatment options.
Dr. Anita Blanchard and Dr. Adrianne Dade are especially committed to training our next generation of gynecologists. Dr. Blanchard, led our department as the Residency Program Director for 17 years before passing this position to Dr Dade, our present Residency Progam Director. Dr. Blanchard continues to promote excellence in residency through research on improving resilience and work/life balance in physicians.
